Ulisses Santamaria is a Research Assocaite with the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research. He currently provides clinical research support services to 20+ clinical trials in the form of bio-specimen organization and scientific consultation.
Formerly, he worked as a Intramural Research Training Award (IRTA) Fellow at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke where he worked in the laboratory of Dr. Avindra Nath developing and managing database systems for efficient storage and retrieval of clinical trial information. He also coordinated collaborative research projects, assisted in the development of novel therapeutics for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, and investigated cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers in people living with HIV.​
Outside of work, his hobbies include crafting objects out of cardboard, journaling, repairing electronics, and stock market investments.
Ulisses holds a B.A. in Sociology from The University of Virginia and holds a MS in Biotechnology specializing in stem cells and regenerative technologies from The Johns Hopkins University.
